TEFL Course News

October 2012

All the latest news and promotions from Thailand's TEFL course providers

This could be a very good time of year to take the November TEFL course at SEE TEFL in Chiang Mai. It actually starts on the 26th November and coincides with the magnificent Loy Krathong festival (or Yee Peng as it is known in North Thailand) It's a festival known for its lights and beauty and takes place from the 27th November to the 29th. SEE TEFL in Chiang Mai also has a great YouTube video which takes you inside their school. You can view their facilities and meet John the course director plus some of their staff, And, if you want to see what SEE TEFL graduates look like, you can visit their Flickr page and take a peek at every one of their 460 graduates from 48 classes since they started running courses in 2006.

UniTEFL Thailand has a special offer for their November course beginning on October 29th at their Chiang Mai location. Enroll now and you receive "Free Accommodations" for the month valued up to $250. Rooms will be reserved on a first come first serve basis as there is limited supply. As a bonus for Ajarn readers only, you will also receive the Uni-scribe Travel Writing Course. This three day introductory course to travel writing will commence after the final day of the TEFL course. It is ideal for bloggers and travellers who hope to get into the industry and make some money writing about their travels. You will also have access to several travel media companies locally. For more details contact UniTEFL

Samui TEFL is still offering their special course price of 35,000 baht until the end of the year. They're also offering a nice little extra for those who take the course in October and November - a free travel writing workshop with Roseanne Turner. Roseanne is a professional writer and has had articles published in many travel and in-flight magazines. The idea here is that you could take a TEFL course and then get tips and expert advice on blogging about your travels. I think it's a lovely idea.

One to keep in mind for the coming months, The Language Centre of Chantaburi will be providing on-line TEFL courses from November onwards. Trainees can start the 120-hour course at any time using 15 fifteen modules, teaching demonstration videos, and teacher advice for each module. The course will include direct access to a student tutor, who will help if a problem occurs. Elements of the course also include a half-term and a final-term test. The price will be published on the LCC website in October.

If you're considering taking your TEFL course in 2013, don't forget to register for TEFLPlus' lucky draw. What's happening at AYC, TEFL course provider and one of the largest teacher recruiters in Thailand? Well, they have cut the prices of their 120-hour on-site Bangkok TESOL Course to 799 USD for the regular course and 999 USD with private accommodation (a studio apartment)

AYC offers internationally recognized certification from INTESOL USA and NCFE UK and one of the aims of the course is to create a source of qualified and prepared teachers for the AYC English program in Thailand. With the help of some of Thailand's TEFL course providers, we've added an article to the ajarn website which lists ten of the reasons why Thailand can be a good choice for your TEFL course.

Steve, from the popular Chichester College TESOL Course in Bangkok, has written an excellent blog entry entitled, "How much Thai do I need to be able to speak?". This is the question on everyones lips when they first consider teaching English in Thailand and Steve's ever-friendly writing tone makes this piece a pleasure to read.
