How to aim higher and enjoy a better quality of life as a teacher
I'm looking ahead to next year and thinking about how to get a pay rise and a promotion. You should be thinking about it too. So what are some of the ways to go about it?
Do I fit what Thais are seeking "disciplined, neat, clean, organized, mentally stable and responsible foreign people"? Perhaps?
It's clear to me that us Westerners are huge complainers by nature. Let's face it, we have it easy, especially when you compare our quality of life to those that reside in South East Asia and China.

To get an idea of exactly what teachers love and loathe about life in Thailand, we conducted a brief survey and with foreign teachers based in Chiang Mai.
So what's the attraction exactly?
Bangkok might never be the place I truly call home but it's a place I'm happy to be right now.
How much should you be making?
While extensive amounts of information is already readily available on the matter of teachers' salaries, I'd still like to add some of my own opinions for those considering coming here to teach.
I gave up the classroom but still managed to stay in Thailand
Many of the people I've met along the way have asked me how I managed to study and work at the same time, or how I got such a cool job, or where to look for a job and so on.
Unless you just want to have an adventure or get started in your career, for most graduates Thailand is a very unattractive place to work.
It all boils down to how you look at things
As much as I love Thailand, I often find myself complaining about living here. I notice that many of my friends do the same thing. Most of the time it is just harmless chit chat, but sometimes I find myself talking to people who really do not seem to like anything about Thailand.
