We currently have an immediate opening for a native speaking English teacher. The new semester will begin in November, but we are prepared to start the successful candidate at this time. We invite qualified prospective teachers interested in working with us to apply.
Let me tell you more about the position and our school:
We are Ratchathani University, a private university, located in Ubon Ratchathani. There are two other universities in Ubon Ratchathani, which are Ubon Ratchathani University and Ubon Ratchathani Rajabhat University (both government schools). There is sometimes confusion in the names. We are located in town, on the ring road, exactly opposite to CentralPlaza Department store. The cost of living is low here, housing readily available, and despite being a small town; we have a nice selection of restaurants, nightclubs, and shopping. Ubon Ratchathani is a six-hour drive or 50-minute flight from Bangkok. Our province is boarded by Laos and the Mekong River, Pha Taem National Park, and Sam Pan Bok.
We seek dedicate, responsible individuals; interested in sharing their knowledge with friendly, motivated students.
1. Teach English to students of various faculties, to include: Pre-school, kindergarten, Nursing, Education, Business, Engineering. Our classes consist of: English 1 & 2 for all faculties, English for Nurses, English for Nursing Aides, English for Engineers, Business English 1,2, & 3, English for Education, and Technical English for Health Sciences. There are also labs, which are short one-hour classes with a lesser number of students. They are meant to augment the general English classes.
2. Prepare lesson plans, suggest new ideas of teaching methods, and work within the framework of the University. We write class outlines, lesson plans, and both Midterm and Final exams for each of our classes. Class content may be based upon existing material (former classes), redeveloped in your own way, or a combination of both. This allows for a lot of creativity and freedom on the part of the individual teacher. We grade exams and enter the grades in the university’s computer database. (The database is in English and is very easy to use.)
Teachers are responsible for the work outlined above, to the Manager of the English Department. Managerial reviews are conducted after each semester.
We teach a maximum of 17 hours per week. Classrooms have air conditioning, sound systems/microphones, overhead projectors, and white boards. Class sizes range from 50 to 120 students. The ability to maintain a positive presence within a large audience is required.
Offices are also air conditioned and shared with Thai teachers. The atmosphere is very friendly and relaxed. Working hours are 8:30 am - 4:30 pm, 5 days per week. Holidays ('weekends') are two consecutive days per week, and are usually scheduled on weekdays, as we are often busiest on Saturday and Sunday. Our working ‘weekend’ is generally Monday and Tuesday, but can vary or change with each semester.
Salary is 35,000 baht per month. Non -B visa and work permit are provided, as well as holidays. Insurance is also available.
Candidates must be native English speakers; from the USA, Canada, or England.
You must also possess a bachelor’s degree, though there are no requirements for your faculty or major.
Our interviews are conducted here at the school. We would like to meet you personally; as well as have you review us, our school, and our town. If you wish to become acquainted, or learn more about the position; we will conduct an informal Skype interview.
Please be aware that only those candidates who comply with these requirements will be considered. Also, due to the many correspondences received, we can only reply to those we are seriously considering.
Please reply with you cover letter, photo, and resume; in printable PDF format. No further documents are requested at this time. At a time convenient for both you and the university, we will conduct interviews which complete our selection process. Interviews are held here at Ratchathani University, in which you are asked to present a short sample lesson including your outline and lesson plan. Candidates will also be asked to demonstrate their knowledge and ability to explain English grammar.
Please let us know of your interest.
