Classical/Electric Guitar/Bassoon Music Teacher

The school is looking for 3 positions of an Electric Guitar, a Classical Guitar and a Bassoon Visiting Teacher to work closely with the Director of Music in order to promote the subject throughout the Harrow community and contribute to a framework within which pupils can enjoy an active pursuit of music at all levels and in a variety of forms, with the pursuit of excellence paramount at all times.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Teach pupils, ranging from complete beginners to those of a high standard, the technique and musicianship required to play an appropriate musical instrument, offering encouragement, support and guidance as necessary
- Carry out the administrative procedures of the Department (lesson grades, pupil-absence notes, daily record planner and notes etc.
- Prepare pupils for Music Exams in consultation with the Director of Music and Senior Music Administrator
- Ability to support with Aural, Theory and Sight Reading as an integral element of an instrumental or vocal music lesson
- Prepare appropriate pupils for the practical component of GCSE and A-level examinations. This will be in consultation with the Department of Music and Head of Academic Music
- Prepare pupils for concerts, festivals and competitions (as appropriate) and encourage pupils to take the available opportunities to develop all aspects of their musicianship
- Assess, record and report, as required, on the development, progress and attainment of pupils, always identifying and ensuring that students understand what their targets are and how to achieve these targets successfully and within a given timeframe

Qualifications and personal qualities:
- Degree in Music and/or suitably related field of professional music performance
- Experience and knowledge in teaching an instrument to all ages and abilities
- Experience working with young people an advantage (individual and group teaching)
-Excellent spoken and written English skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills, flexible, positive attitude and a great team worker
