We are looking for a primary trained teacher to join our expanding team in Thailand to provide education to children with a range of complex needs.

The Village International Education Centre is a small education centre providing specailist education for children with special needs. Our students have a wide range of special educational needs, including global delay, autistic spectrum disorder, Aspergers, Downs syndrome, cerebral palsy and specific learning difficulties, such as dyslexia and specific language impairment (SLI). The staff consists of teachers, assistants, speech therapists, occupational therapist, specialist literacy teachers.

As a primary school teacher, you'll be responsible for a small class of about 6 students, you will develop schemes of work and lesson plans in line with UK curriculum objectives. You'll facilitate learning by establishing a relationship with pupils and parents, keeping your learning resources organised and creating a positive learning environment in the classroom.

Your role is to develop and foster the appropriate skills and social abilities to enable the optimum development of children, according to age, ability and aptitude.

You'll assess and record progress and prepare pupils for key stage tests and review their progress. You'll link pupils' knowledge to earlier learning and develop ways to encourage it further, challenging and inspiring pupils to help them deepen their knowledge and understanding.


The Village International Education Centre

Tasks are broadly the same for primary school teachers from the UK, but you will need to have basic understanding of special needs or will to take our basic training, your role will include:

Teaching all areas of the primary curriculum

Taking responsibility for the progress of a class of about 6 primary-age pupils

Organising the classroom and learning resources and creating displays to encourage a positive learning environment

Planning, preparing and presenting lessons that cater for the needs of the whole ability range within the class

Motivating pupils with enthusiastic, imaginative presentation maintaining discipline

Preparing and marking work to facilitate positive pupil development.

Prepare the children for assessments and record pupils' development

Providing regular feedback to parents and carers on a pupil's progress

Coordinating activities and resources within a specific area of the curriculum, and supporting colleagues in the delivery

Working closely with others to plan and coordinate work

Keeping up to date with changes and developments in the structure of the curriculum

Organising and taking part in school events, outings and activities which may take place at weekends or in the evening

Liaising with colleagues and working flexibly, particularly with the therpists

Work closely with parents to maximise their involvement in the school

Meeting regualrly with our team of therpists

Living in Thailand
Thailand is an exciting place to work and live, and also a great base for exploring other parts of South East Asia. Living standards in Thailand are high and western commodities are easily available so most people find it easy to settle in here. There is a network of Speech and Language Therapists working in other schools and centres in the region who can provide some indirect support.

The Village is a small organisation we are unable to provide accommodation, but we will help you find something suitable when you arrive.

• Monthly salary will be between 45,000 – 55,000 THB (gross), depending on experience.
• Work permit and work visa provided. The Village will pay for your multiple entry visa and work permit for the first year, in the second and ongoing years we will cover a single entry visa and work permit.
• Working hours are 7.30 to 4.00 Monday to Friday.
• Initial contract is for 2 years.
• The Village will contribute towards some CPD if relevant to your role.
• You will be entitled to basic local healthcare for free.
