All the news from Thailand's leading TEFL course and training providers

SEE TEFL Chiang Mai - SEE TEFL up in Chiang Mai has been teaching a full-time 120-hour TEFL course for over ten years, and can boast over 1,000 graduates. In addition to this popular 4-week certification program, they now offer paid teaching internships with teacher training twice a year to coincide with the two school semesters in Thailand. Both the 4-week TEFL and the Paid Internship (which includes 2 weeks of training and 15 days of accommodation) cost $1,295 with early bird specials.

The SEE TEFL 4-week course is comprehensive and includes grammar review, lesson planning, 6 observed teaching practices in a variety of schools with real students, cultural awareness training, classroom management, survival Thai language lessons, and job seeking advice. They offer visa support and they have a webpage dedicated to all your visa options and how they can help in each case. Well worth a look.

In April, 2016 SEE TEFL moved into a new, modern, purpose-built school just a short distance from their previous location. SEE TEFL has a job guarantee, and most TEFL grads find work within a few weeks. SEE TEFL is licensed by the Thailand Ministry of Education, has achieved ISO 9001 quality certification, and is a TQUK approved training centre.

Stamford International University CELTA - Stamford International University (a network of 80 higher education institutions, including Stamford) launched its Stamford Professional Development Center (SPDC) on September 12th 2016 at a great Central Bangkok location on Soi Asoke (near the skytrain and subway interchange stations)

The SPDC will offer a CELTA online course (a 120-hour blended learning course for teachers of adult English learners), CELT-S and CELT-P (120-hour blended learning courses for secondary and primary school English teachers) to enhance the classroom skills of ELT practitioners. All three certificates are highly practical qualifications that provide essential knowledge, hands-on teaching experience and classroom confidence to qualify as a competent teacher of English.

What about post CELTA job prospects? They will also offer the Stamford Apprenticeship Scheme, which means potential employment at Stamford International University for highly successful candidates or an apprenticeship with the Laureate English Program in Bangkok or Hua Hin.

Here are all the details you need on one convenient webpage - course fees, entry requirements, course information, location map and contact form, etc.

David Valente is the very experienced Director of Professional Development at Stamford and David will be overseeing the new SPDC operation. In the official press release, David says ""Employers around the world welcome English language teachers with Cambridge English teaching qualifications - and those qualifications are essential for anyone wanting to work in our English language department"

Entrust TEFL Chiang Mai and Krabi - Entrust TEFL offers training locations in both Chiang Mai and Krabi and has also recently been awarded during the 2016 Thailand Educational Awards. Over 14 years they have been offering an intensive 3-week, full-time 120-hour course and qualified over 5000 teachers.

Entrust TEFL courses start on the first Monday of every month and they accept both native and non-native speakers of English. Degree holders are given guaranteed job placement and non-degree holders are given job placement assistance. The Entrust TEFL Facebook page has more info.

Since January 2016, they have trained and placed 53 degree holders and 102 non-degree holders in paid jobs throughout Thailand. They also maintain a 100% placement rate regardless of a teacher's educational status or nationality, but only place their own course graduates as they can guarantee the level of training with the schools.

The Entrust TEFL course curriculum covers 25 units along with three full days of observed teaching practice with students in local schools in either Chiang Mai or Krabi. More information on the TEFL curriculum here. The Entrust TEFL legal department also offers visa and work permit assistance for both degreed and non-degreed teachers regardless of which TEFL provider they came through. More information on visas and work permits here

TEFL Campus Phuket - Due to full enrollment, TEFL Campus Phuket has closed enrollment for their remaining 2016 courses. However, they offer an exclusive discount for Ajarn.com readers for those who enroll in any 2017 course before the end of the year. Also, everyone who enrolls gets a free online course (US$ 250 value).

If you're interested in reading first-hand experience from a recent trainee, check out the TEFL diary series on their blog page. Graduates of TEFL Campus routinely state the course was a challenge but one that prepared them for the classroom through meaningful teaching practice.

TEFL Campus has been operating in Phuket Town since 2002. Their TEFL certification is validated by Fort Hays State University and the center itself is licensed by Thailand's Ministry of Education. They offer meaningful assistance with employment, visas and accommodation. Contact TEFL Campus for more details.

Chiang Mai University TEFL - Chiang Mai University still offers its Guaranteed Job Referral Scheme for all its graduates to one of their many recruitment partners. CMUTEFL is running its TED (Teacher Employment Discount) campaign for all applicants who are currently employed as a teacher or those who have been offered a contract to start teaching in a foreign country. To be eligible, applicant must show proof of employment upon enrolment to qualify for a 20% discount off the program fees (saving of $280 USD)

Chichester College TESOL - To combat the rise in prices Brits are facing across the board due to the fall in Sterling, the popular Chichester College TESOL / TEFL programme in Bangkok is offering pre-Brexit exchange rates to people from the UK enrolling on their full time courses in October, November and December this year.

The full course fees are $1,595 which now equals a whopping £1,300 in Pounds Sterling! Prior to the Brexit vote, $1,595 was exchanging at just £1,070, so it's basically a saving of £230.

According to the Chichester fees section, you don't even need to be a British citizen to benefit from the offer: You just need to have been living in the UK for the majority of 2016 to be eligible.

This makes sense in a way, since most people living in the UK at the moment will have accumulated most of their savings when the pound was much higher, so it's a nice gesture from Chichester to recognise this and give Brits intent on coming to teach English in Thailand a helping hand to get here.

Applications can be made on the website.

UEC TEFL Thai Bangkok  - UEC TEFL Thai offers a 120-hour training course in Central Bangkok and are committed to empowering trainees to become competent and enthusiastic teachers in an international training environment. Check out the current list of course dates. They also offer up to a 10% discount for student cardholders.

Courses are licensed by The Thai Ministry of Education and teaching practice is done with 'less fortunate' Thai students (which is a nice touch). UEC Thai TEFL also assists trainees in finding accommodation and employment and offers as much support as needed. Why not read what recent graduates have said about the course.

One of UEC TEFL's recent grads has also written a very nice article about their experience teaching in a government school in Ratchaburi.

If you are in Bangkok, you are very welcome to drop by the UEC TEFL Thai office, chat with current trainees and even sit in on a lesson. Telephone or send an e-mail for more information.
