All the latest news and promotions from Thailand's TEFL course providers

Island TEFL has some good offers at the moment. They are offering Ajarn readers the opportunity to enroll on any of their 4-Week, 120 TEFL/TESOL training courses on Koh Samui or Phuket for the price of $1,200 U.S. or 34,000 Baht. For those signing up with a friend, both people will receive a 30% discount off the regular course prices. For those interested in taking a TEFL/TESOL course in Bangkok, Island TEFL is offering a 3-Week, 120 hour TEFL/TESOL course for $995 U.S. or 29,900 Baht. Places are limited so get in touch ASAP. Island TEFL is also running a writing competition which anybody can enter and stand the chance to win prizes. First prize is a 4-Week TEFL/TESOL Course.

Working in partnership with the International Language and Culture Association and the Thai Ministry of Education, Island TEFL has also been requested to recruit, train and supply 300 English language instructors to government schools throughout Thailand. These teaching positions will start from 9th January through 16th May, 2012. The contract length will be for up to 12 months (5-month contracts are available upon request.) If you are a native English speaker with a degree in any subject, upon successful completion of the 120 hour, TEFL/TESOL, program, you will automatically qualify for one of these guaranteed teaching placements.

If you would like more information, visit the Island TEFL website or e-mail Phil Dunne or call him on 084 755 4968

Samui TEFL would like to remind you that Koh Samui is not affected by the Thailand floods of course. They have just ONE place left on their course starting on November 28th, still at the 'rainy season special rate' of 35,000 baht. You can also get a 15% discount on the January 2012 course (which starts on the 9th) if you book before the end of November.

The Samui TEFL course package includes airport collection, personal assistance with your CV/Resume, 24-hour emergency support, a teacher's bag with all the stationery you will need, a loan cell phone (you keep the sim card), and a welcome dinner.

Samui TEFL's partnership with ISS (The International School of Samui) means that they are also associated with Cambridge University.

Established TEFL course providers Text and Talk have a very interesting offer included in their Bangkok course beginning on the 3rd January 2012. Those who enrol on this course and mention ajarn.com as their source of information will receive two months free accommodation at the Poonchok Mansion, which is a luxury serviced apartment nearby. Get in there now because the accommodation offer only holds good for that January course in Bangkok. In addition, Text and Talk guarantee good employment for any of their course graduates. They also include a TEFL for Young Learners course worth $660 US absolutely free as part of the regular course (very useful if you plan on teaching children)

Text and Talk TEFL courses are spread over six weeks from Monday to Thursday, giving teachers three days to relax and do other things. For more info visit the Text and Talk website or alternatively e-mail Mr James Parmelee with all your questions. You can even call him if you like on 081 847 7248. US Toll free number is 1 866 554 4438

Teach Abroad Thailand's TEFL courses are now fully booked until March 2012 so they are increasing the number of courses at Koh Samui and Phuket in November, January and February. They still have places available on the Phuket course starting on November 14th. If you enrol for this course before October 10th, you can get a 100 US Dollar discount.

If you sign up for a Teach Abroad Thailand course before the end of October 2012 and mention ajarn.com, you can get a free introduction scuba dive or a Thai massage if you don't fancy getting wet. The Teach Abroad Thailand course is condensed into a 2-week package and includes a personal on-line tutor.

TEFL Plus is having an attractive 'end of year sale'. If you register for their advanced TEFL course, starting on January 16th 2012, you can save 50% of the course fee. So that's a four-week, 125-hour certificate for just 21,000 baht. Not a bad deal at all. You need to reserve your place because understandably seats are very limited if you want to take advantage of the special offer. Fill out the enrolment form on the TEFL Plus website and don't forget to mention that you saw the deal on ajarn.com.

SEE TEFL in Chiang Mai has now reached 3,000 views of its 'typical TEFL teaching practice day video on YouTube. It's well worth a look and really gives you a flavor of what goes on in the teaching practice sessions. During training there are 6 one-hour observed teaching practices in real schools teaching real students. This of course is when all that theory becomes reality and your classroom management and discipline skills start to develop. Also included in their TEFL certification package is free 1-year non-immigrant visa support and some cultural awareness training. SEE TEFL don't actually request course-fee balance payments until the end of the first day of training in Chiang Mai. It sounds like a brave move but they are that confident you won't be disappointed in the program they offer. Here is a list of all the benefits to the SEE program.

With the help of some of Thailand's TEFL course providers, we've added an article to the ajarn website which lists ten of the reasons why Thailand can be a good choice for your TEFL course.

Steve, from the popular Chichester College TESOL Course in Bangkok, has written an excellent blog entry entitled, "How much Thai do I need to be able to speak?". This is the question on everyones lips when they first consider teaching English in Thailand and Steve's ever-friendly writing tone makes this piece a pleasure to read.
