TEFL Course News

January 2013

All the latest promotions from Thailand's major TEFL course providers

Samui TEFL has moved to new premises in time for their January course. The new and improved location means that students now have a dedicated student lounge and dining room. There are also plenty of good 'n' cheap restaurants within walking distance. Fancy a swim at lunchtime or after a hard day in the training room? Choeng Mon beach is only a three-minute walk from the school and the training center also has its own swimming pool if a three-minute walk sounds like too much. The course accommodation has not changed (about 1.5 kms from the school) but for those who do not fancy hiring a scooter, Samui TEFL provides a pick-up and drop-off service. Apparently February and March courses are filling up fast with just a few places left. Get in now while you can!

For 2013 along with its regular TESOL course and guaranteed job projects, American TESOL Institute has launched a one-week specialized teaching practice course for teachers with qualifications but no teaching experience. The course will include classroom management skills pertaining to Thailand and teaching different lessons across different age groups in actual Thai schools. ATI's second offering in the New Year is a blended hybrid course comprising both online study and in-class training for freshers

Don't forget that Text and Talk Academy has a training center in Khon Kaen if you fancy doing your TEFL course somewhere a bit different to the usual offerings of Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Phuket, etc. All the information you need is on the Text and Talk website.

Chiang Mai University TEFL course is celebrating its 7th anniversary this year and you can find graduate testimonials on CMU TEFL's very own Youtube page. The February 2013 course is already full but they are accepting enrollments for the program starting on March 11th. Subscribe to the CMU TEFL Youtube page and you'll find some good teaching activities for new teachers. All those taking the course will have the chance to experience teaching practice at both Chiang Mai University and Thai schools in the area. And you can also take advantage of CMU TEFL's complimentary 20-hour Thai language and culture course to give you a headstart on your new teaching career in Thailand.

SEE TEFL up in Chiang Mai, recently graduated their 500th trainee from the 51st course that they have run since 2006 - so it was a cause for some celebration. You can actually see graduation photos from all 51 courses on SEE TEFL's Flickr album. Their new Facebook page has already attracted over two thousand 'likes' since October. There are still a few seats remaining on the first course of 2013 (which starts on January 7th) but February's course is already full.

Unitefl is offering a 'free' travel writing workshop in conjunction with their 120-hour TEFL courses in January and February so it might be a way to earn money from both teaching and travelling. This three-day course and workshop is an ideal introduction for those wishing to get involved with travel writing. It covers the fundamentals of various aspects of commercial writing for the travel industry and you will have the opportunity to meet authors from Frommers, Insight, Rough Guides and more. Also keep in mind that the UniTEFL program includes "free" accommodations in Chiang Mai and teaching practice is done in local, government schools. UniTEFL has a page of comments and testimonials from prior students. Contact UniTEFL for more info.

OnlineTEFLExpress.com is offering ajarn readers the opportunity to undertake their 120 hour TEFL/TESOL certification program for only $395 U.S. or 12,000 Baht. OnlineTEFLexpress.com is now offering on-location, 120 hour, TEFL/TESOL certification courses throughout Thailand, Europe and the U.S.A.
