All the latest news and promotions from Thailand's TEFL course providers

SEE TEFL up in Chiang Mai, recently graduated their 500th trainee from the 51st course that they have run since 2006 - so it was a cause for some celebration. You can actually see graduation photos from all 51 courses on SEE TEFL's Flickr album. Their new Facebook page has already attracted over two thousand 'likes' since October. There are still a few seats remaining on the first course of 2013 (which starts on January 7th) but February's course is already full.

Unitefl is offering a 'free' travel writing workshop in conjunction with their 120-hour TEFL courses in January and February so it might be a way to earn money from both teaching and travelling. This three-day course and workshop is an ideal introduction for those wishing to get involved with travel writing. It covers the fundamentals of various aspects of commercial writing for the travel industry and you will have the opportunity to meet authors from Frommers, Insight, Rough Guides and more. Also keep in mind that the UniTEFL program includes "free" accommodations in Chiang Mai and teaching practice is done in local, government schools. UniTEFL has a page of comments and testimonials from prior students. Contact UniTEFL for more info.

OnlineTEFLExpress.com is offering ajarn readers the opportunity to undertake their 120 hour TEFL/TESOL certification program for only $395 U.S. or 12,000 Baht. If you prefer to complete the online course and then do a one week practical teaching immersion program in Bangkok you will be upgraded to an in-class TEFL/TESOL certification. OnlineTEFLexpress.com is now offering on-location, 120 hour, TEFL/TESOL certification courses throughout Thailand, Europe and the U.S.A. The OnlineTEFLexpress.com programs come with a guaranteed teaching job placement offer in schools throughout Thailand. Teaching placement programs are also available for Vietnam, China and South Korea. For more information, visit the OnlineTEFLExpress website or contact Phil Dunne by e-mail.

As part of their University Social Responsibility (USR), Chiang Mai's university-accredited TEFL certification program at CMUTEFL has now teamed up with the Faculty of Nursing, Chiang Mai University to give its graduate teachers the opportunity to become certified first aiders. Starting from January 2013, all successful CMUTEFL graduates have the opportunity to enrol for this valuable 1-day first aid course through the Faculty of Nursing, a course which has been designed exclusively for Chiang Mai University TEFL graduates.  And if you're still worried about teaching grammar, CMUTEFL has now integrated an 8-hour complimentary grammar workshop for its trainees. Don't forget to check out the video testimonials on the Chiang Mai University TEFL youtube, in addition, there are now some clips of the CMUTEFL Microteaching Sessions available as well.

Samui TEFL is still offering their special course price of 35,000 baht until the end of the year. They're also offering a nice little extra for those who take the course in October and November - a free travel writing workshop with Roseanne Turner. Roseanne is a professional writer and has had articles published in many travel and in-flight magazines. The idea here is that you could take a TEFL course and then get tips and expert advice on blogging about your travels. I think it's a lovely idea.

If you're considering taking your TEFL course in 2013, don't forget to register for TEFLPlus' lucky draw. Four winners will win free hotel accommodation with its four-week advanced TEFL course in Patong Beach, Phuket in 2013. All you have to do is download your free copy of the Surviving Thailand Guide from the TEFL Plus website. The last day to enter the draw is March 31, 2013, so register today and get your name in early. You could win free accommodation with your advanced TEFL course!

What's happening at AYC, TEFL course provider and one of the largest teacher recruiters in Thailand? Well, they have cut the prices of their 120-hour on-site Bangkok TESOL Course to 799 USD for the regular course and 999 USD with private accommodation (a studio apartment)

With the help of some of Thailand's TEFL course providers, we list ten of the reasons why Thailand can be a good choice for your TEFL course.

Steve, from the popular Chichester College TESOL Course in Bangkok, has written an excellent blog entry entitled, "How much Thai do I need to be able to speak?". This is the question on everyones lips when they first consider teaching English in Thailand and Steve's ever-friendly writing tone makes this piece a pleasure to read.
