A healthy change
Changes to the ajarn.com health insurance policy
For anyone interested in the Ajarn.com Group insurance program, THI has changed the application. They now require personal information on the application, such as name, address, etc. We used to provide a separate for that information; now everything goes on one form. The Enrollment Form and the Health Application are now just one form. We also offer an additional Inpatient (IP) plan for anyone seeking higher coverage. Below are some questions I have recently received regarding the group plan:
I have been going to the dermatologist at BumRungrad about every 6 months.
Since it is an already existing problem for you, treatment won't be covered at all.
Also I am wondering if a blood cholesterol test would be covered and what else is covered in OPD or what isn't covered in the OPD coverage?
Routine check ups are not covered. Medical tests are covered, but only when requested by a doctor for treatment of a medical problem that you didn't have when purchased the insurance.
Is there an option for dental cover?
No.
Is the teacher's group insurance listed on ajarn the same as the Wealthy healthy coverage you describe from THI?
Yes it is the same as WH4000, but with a different premium structure.
The following are health insurance questions from a couple in their 60s. They can't qualify for Ajarn.com Group coverage:
I have treatment for blood pressure: the measurement being 110/70.
For sure, no insurance company will cover you for treatment, medication or testing for that condition.
My travel insurance doesn't exclude this condition.
I don't know about your travel insurance, but most travel insurance applications don't ask health questions. They make the decision about what to exclude when you seek treatment for a condition that existed at the time of application. If your blood pressure problem existed before you got the coverage, it would most likely be automatically excluded from treatment, along with any other conditions that the treating physician determined were caused by your blood pressure problem. Check with your travel insurance and find out if it excludes "pre-existing conditions." If it does, then your condition is automatically excluded. They don't need to give you formal notice that it is excluded.
When I first approached BUPA & AIA they would only accept me by excluding every conceivable cardiovascular disease.
Hypertension (high blood pressure), if not controlled, can cause heart disease. But they should not automatically exclude treatment for heart disease unless they have good reason to believe that damage to your heart has already been done.
We sent them a list of insurance companies that will insure them, but won't cover their pre-existing conditions.
