Latest update on Thailand's TEFL course providers

International House now has three permanent TEFL trainers. This means that the capacity for course participants has increased to 18 places in Bangkok and 12 in Chiang Mai. You can find all the course dates at each location by visiting the IH website or you can contact Graeme by e-mail.
Text and Talk is now providing several benefits to TEFL course trainees. They are offering a 12-month Thai language course – and a 12-month Non-immigrant Education Visa – free of charge when you enroll. The participant pays only the nominal government visa fee. In addition, they offer guaranteed work placement and sound job advice.
What else? The regular TEFL course now includes a full diploma-level Teaching English to Young Learners Course (TEYL) This is especially useful if you plan on teaching children. Text and Talk also offers flexible schedules so you choose the times you want to study.

Starting this February, two more universities, Khon Kaen University and Prince of Songkla University, (Phuket campus), will join the growing trend toward offering fully accredited university issued TEFL training in Thailand. Now, prospective teachers who have been looking for university teacher-training courses have choices in three different areas of the country to select from.
For those in the far North East, the Khon Kaen University campus is a great place to explore the more rural side of Thailand while getting your university TEFL/TESOL certification. For those who prefer the beach and the excitement of Phuket, there is now the Prince of Songkla University TEFL/TESOL course.

SIT is now offering complete survival guides to new applicants. The Chiang Mai Survival Guide and the Bangkok Survival Guide contain all the information you need to prepare for a course in Thailand. SIT is hosted by the AUA Language Center and ensures a minimum of one full-time trainer for every four trainees accepted on to the course. The Special Thai Project of American TESOL Institute has now been running for two years. Within this two-year time, ATI has trained approximately 400 students in four semesters. As part of the program. you will get a chance to work four to five months in Thailand.
