Testing positive

What actually happens when someone tests positive for COVID-19 in Thailand?

The system can be quite convoluted, but hopefully this step-by-step guide breaks it down for you.

The importance of insurance for protection against accidents

The common types of accidents and risks in Thailand for expats and travelers alike

On my way to work this morning, I couldn’t help but notice the massive traffic jams on both sides of the roads. I was walking along the top of the sky-walk when I happened to glance across to a group of backpackers looking somewhat bewildered by the road crossing........

Support your local Thai fresh market

Postbox letter from Darron

Fortunately I've never had a hankering for Western food here and I think after three years in Thailand I've forgotten what the inside of a supermarket looks like.

Khao Pad Malang

Why I decided to start eating insects

I have a pretty healthy diet. I exercise a lot, I don't smoke or drink and I much prefer a good dinner to a piece of cheesecake or an ice cream, so giving up beef was purely to do with its environmental impact.

Eye talk

Looking after your eyes and eyesight is so important

Have you ever experienced reading a newspaper one day without any problem and the next day you can no longer read that same paper - even with the help of a magnifying glass? What did your ophthalmologist say about the problem? Did eye correction work for you?

Eating healthy in Thailand

Is it becoming more and more difficult?

My long held belief that Thai food was generally very healthy has diminished fast. The diet of rice is generally healthy- the accoutrements of creamy sauces and fried meats are not.

A brief rant about healthcare

Healthcare in Thailand trumps what's available in the USA every time

I can completely understand the reasoning behind the US system of over-carefulness; drugs should be administered safely and correctly, and you should always know what's actually wrong with you. But, even if I wasn't positive of my illness (based on multiple past experiences), I can find a doctor here, no appointment needed, and pay about 1000 baht ($30) on-the-spot, no insurance needed.
