Soi Cowboy ( Thanks to Stickman )

Soi Cowboy, older than Nana Plaza but younger than Patpong is the least popular of the three main gogo bar areas in Bangkok.  Mainly frequented by locals, the 100 metre long soi located between Sukumvit Sois 21 (Asoke) and 23 is a short strip of gogo bars with a handful of open air beer bars.

Unlike Patpong and to a lesser extent Nana, you can usually walk into a bar in Soi Cowboy and get a seat without a problem.  Cowboy is generally quieter and far more relaxed and it is this that separates it from the other areas.  It is also the reason why some people like it and others don't.  

In my opinion, there is nothing worse than being in one of the popular Patpong or Nana Plaza gogo bars and not being able to get a seat or getting a seat and feeling like a sardine.

Many of the publicans at Cowboy complain about their bars being quiet when Patpong and Nana are booming but perhaps they should have a closer look at their establishments because some bars are downright dingy.  Very few of the bars are nicely decorated and many are shabby, having not seen a fresh coat of paint in years.

The girls at Cowboy tend to be a lot friendlier and generally less pushy than those at Patpong or Nana Plaza.  However, the girls here don't tend to be as attractive as those at Nana or the Pong.  Other than Long Gun 1 and 2, few of the bars at Soi Cowboy really seem to make much of an effort.  These two bars deserve a special mention because a) they actually have attractive girls and b) the girls wear more diverse outfits and often perform various raunchy dance routines.  

It may not be brilliant but it's good to see some bars actually making an effort to deliver a better product.  The girls at these two bars are easily the most attractive in the soi.

A lot of the bars in this soi have satellite TV and live sport such as British/German soccer and international rugby is also broadcast.  The soi is a nice place to go and watch sports without any hassles.
Many of the girls at Soi Cowboy live above the gogo bars in the soi - cheap digs I guess.  If you want to get a cheap girl at Soi Cowboy, hang around until all of the bars close at 2:00 am.  After 2:00, many of the girls empty out into the soi and mill around, often catching up with friends or buying food from one of the many late night street vendors.  

A lot of them will take the slow stroll a few hundred metres up Sukumvit to the Thermae.  Others may hang around in Country Road Bar on the corner of the soi.  This is the time to get a girl really cheaply!  After 2:00, you should be able to approach almost any girl and get her for 500 baht short time and absolutely no more than 1,000 long time - 500 is definitely achievable!

Pros:  Price of the girls, friendliness of girls (in general), less pressure to buy drinks, satellite TV at many bars, not crowded.

Cons: Girls vary in quality, mainly darker skinned Isaan girls that are not to everyone’s taste.  Bars can be shabby and many of the bars feel old, decrepit, and some are even depressing.

The Bottom Line: Some like it while others don’t.  Check it out for yourself.  Not nearly as many tourists as other more popular areas.  Many small and quiet bars with only a handful of girls.
