Tongue Thai'd ~ Lesson 5
Telling the time can pose a bit of a problem. When Thais are speaking to foreigners they will usually use American method of telling the time - ex. 2.45 = two forty-five The only difference is that they say ‘hours’ and ‘minutes’. hour = meung, minute = natee. So 2.45 would be ‘song meung see sip haa natee’. However when they’re speaking with other Thais they’ll use the Thai method which involves dividing the day into sections and subtracting 6 hours from the actual time shown on a watch. ( Don’t worry about it )
