Tongue Thai'd ~ Lesson 2

Some basic question words - and excuses and apologies for when things go wrong.

In Thai there is no punctuation ( full stops, capitalisation, commas etc ) - the ‘?’s used here are just here to remind you that these are question words.

Basic Question words
English Thai pronunciation
Who ? Krai ?
What ? Arai ?
When ? Meua-rai?
Where ? Nai? / Thi-nai?
Why ? Tham-mai?
Which ? Yangai? / Yaang-rai?
How ? Ahn nai?
How far is it ? Klai sak thao-rai?
How long ? Naan Tao rai ?
How much is it ? Tao rai ?
How many + noun ? Ki + noun

I'm sorry khor-thod
Excuse me for being late khor-thod-thee-ma-sai
I'm awfully sorry khor-thod-phom-sia-jai-mak.
Forgive me please / Pardon me Phom-khor-thod
Sorry for keeping you waiting Khor-thod-thee-hai-khung-thong-khoi
Sorry for disturbing you Phom-khor-thod-thee-tong-rob-kuan-khun
That's OK / Don't worry about it mai pen rai.
