If you're going to be here for sometime it's worth your while to learn some Thai. Most foreigners only learn to speak and read (a little) Thai and not how write it. Coming from an English speaking country, where there are only 26 letters in the alphabet, the Thai alphabet can be a bit daunting. In Thai there are 44 consonants, which are divided into 3 classes - Low, Mid and High. There are also 32 vowel sounds. Unlike English where the same vowel can have several different sounds, Thai uses a different vowel for each different sound. Vowels are divided into 2 classes - Long and Short. Add to this the fact that there are 5 different tones, meaning that the same word can have a different meaning depending on how you pronounce it. Still want to learn?
2. If you did then the Thai script wouldn't mean anything to you unless you were already learning Thai. If that was the case you wouldn't be wasting your time reading this. 3. I'm pretty clueless about the Thai alphabet. I can only spell a few words, but I know how to speak Thai . . . . . . . . . . . . well some . . . . . . . . OK a little bit . . . . .. . . . . . . . . oh, who cares I've not got time to learn a language with no full stops or capital letters.
