Heaven and Hell

I remember asking my Philosophy professor why there is heaven and hell. He answered, “ Oh my God. You’re so naive. Can you imagine the world with out people who believe in heaven? OK, Mr. Andes, when you get out of this room be sure to do good. In that way, you will be an Angel of God.” Until now I wonder why there are so many people who believe in God and yet the world is getting worst everyday. Majority of mankind are greedy, power hungry, vane, and cunning. There is one aspect of going to church that I hate most, that’s seeing people gossiping while the priest is reading the Gospel. These pretentious people are worst than Nicky’s brother. If you don’t know Nicky, please watch Little Nicky the Movie. I just cant understand why after listening to the Word of God, the next itinerary is gossiping, cursing enemies and uttering bad words like S#n of a B#$%tch. Let me call them Black Heart. Another kind of Nicky’s relative is subtle and complicated yet vulgar and obvious. These kinds of people are cunning and difficult to be with. Most of the time, they have bad intentions towards their colleagues. Let me call them Hell Bound.
Let me warn job hunters out there that these kinds of people are in TEFL and education business right now. Be very careful. Watch out. Look for the signs that I will give you in this article. Now, let me tell you a story about a school led by Black Heart and Hell Bound. It is reported that the modus operandi of this learning hut is really bad. Read on.

1. A very excited teacher got the job with a salary of 13K baht. The downside is she/he must surrender the original diploma, Transcript of Records (TOR), and the worst… “Give me your passport for safekeeping. Thank you. You are a very good teacher.”
2. Boss: “We will pay your work permit first but you will pay it every month. Salary deduction. You have a one year contract. Congratulations!”
AFTER 5 MONTHS.
Crying Teacher: “Boss, I will resign now because I can’t bear the treatment of Hell Bound anymore. She/He is so mean, unprofessional, unfair, and treats me like an idiot. It really hurts. HuHuHu.
Boss: “ OK. You resign but you pay me 3K because of your work permit.”
Crying Teacher: “ But I paid it already.”
Boss: “ Yes. But imagine the trouble you’re causing me. You’re leaving at the middle of your contract. How dare you. Ahhhh. Headache. You will not be successful wherever you go.”
3. Continuation…
After one week.
Riinnnnggggg. Riinnnggg. Yes, Mr. Good speaking. How can I help you? Hello, this is Boss Black Heart of Learning Hut. If Mr./Mrs./Ms. Crying Teacher applies in your school, please don’t accept her/him because he/she is bad breath and he/she has hair in his/her armpit.
4. The poor teacher went on to find a new job. Finally, after waiting for 2 months the Crying Teacher got accepted in a faraway land. However, Boss Black Heart delayed the cancellation of his/her work permit. Oh no. A pain in the ass indeed.
5. Out of desperation and lack of money, the Crying Teacher remembered that he/she taught in a special class in his/her former school. He/She didn’t get the payment before he/she resigned. So he/she decided to go back, full of hope, that he/she will get the money to survive 2 more months of eating “kwityaw” everyday. Here’s the tape script:

Crying Teacher: “ I came back to get my payment for my Special Class. You didn’t give me my salary. I worked hard for it so I deserve to be paid in full. Thank you in advance.”

Boss: “ Sorry. You no longer work here. I cant give you your money.”
My dear Pinoys, please don’t let them exploit your eagerness to teach in a foreign land. There are lots of good schools in Thailand. If you happen to encounter a raw deal, then please don’t accept it. Because if you do, it’s like drowning yourself in a pool with out water. You are not the weakest link. You were born a leader. Be strong and say no to evil people. If you feel there is something wrong with the contract, don’t sign it. If you have questions regarding your contract, scan it and send it to me. I am just an ordinary teacher here in Thailand but I can fight beside you as long as you fight for human rights and fair treatment in the workplace. We treat Thai people in the Philippines nicely so we deserve the same treatment as well.

I like to point out that giving your original TOR and other important documents to your employer is b*llsh*t. It’s yours. Keep it with you. Nobody has the right to take it away or keep it for “safekeeping” sh*t. Situation number two(2) is a true example of Nicky’s brother evil intentions. I don’t know if this is really true but if you ask me to pay something that I paid already, I’ll get your ass whopped. Man, this is crazy. And the third situation is so sick. Calling future employers not to accept your former employee is lunacy. Where is your conscience Black Heart? Are you a homosapien or a monkey? I have a prescription for you. Before you go to sleep, look at yourself in front of the mirror, look closely please. Then touch your face and ask yourself with “ HAVE I DONE GOOD TODAY?”
Next time, please do the FOUR WAY TEST before making decisions and before opening your mouth. Here’s the test especially for you Black Heart and Hell Bound.

The Four Way Test
1. Is it the truth?
2. Is it fair to all concerned?
3. Will it build goodwill & better friendships?
4. Will it be beneficial to all concerned?

God is good all the time. It is never too late to correct all the wrong things that we have done.
